Ever since 1995, ROSA – The Danish Rock Council has been in charge of organizing the SPOT Festival. The ambition of the SPOT festival is to create a promotion platform for the Danish and Nordic music. The festival’s repertoire is dictated chiefly by the will to support new bands and artists that are of a quality to succeed internationally. Around 100 upcoming Danish and Nordic bands and artists with international ambitions play concerts in central Aarhus.

When the SPOT Festival kicks off on Thursday May 20th, it will also herald the advent of the festival’s brand new initiative InterSPOT: an international mini festival featuring 19 international acts playing at seven Aarhus venues. Among them are acts like the French Gablé and Montgomery as well as Swiss Sophie Hunger. Representing Austria the five-piece band Bauchklang will stage their danceable electro created only with their voices while Fiago will present their own genre - “risco”, which is a fusion of rock and disco.

Conferences and seminars on current issues in the music business take place with attendants from Denmark as well as international representatives from the music business: record companies, publishers, bookers, concert organizers, media, etc. The SPOT festival is supported and sustained by a very large section of Danish music in rock, pop and related genres.
